This week I have been... #1 (Weekly Roundup)

Hi everyone, I want to share what I have been loving this week, I want to try to do these regularly (hopefully a Sunday stable). I am getting myself back on track and I love posts like this so I can look back and see what I have been loving, kinda like a diary :)

Wearing:

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Gel Cream: I posted on Instagram (@margretscorner) that I received this Complexion Rescue Gel Cream. I will do a full review on it soon with before and after pictures, I just need to go and get my eyebrows done before I photograph my face! But so far I like it. It is like a very light tinted moisturiser. I definitely need good concealer for under my eyes, and then I can use this when my skin is good. I think I will use it alot this summer.

L'Oreal Nude Palette in Rose: What a surprise this palette was, I wore it this week and used the matte shades in my crease and done heavy blending and it just looked so good. These shades are beautiful and I think that the quality of these shadows are great. The palette is only £14.99 and it is very versatile. I definetly think it is a great buy!

NYX Butter Gloss in Cremé Brulee: I don't think there is a more perfect nude pink lip gloss than Cremé Brulee. I am not a gloss type, I always prefer lipsticks but there are few lip glosses that are just so easy to wear. The Butter Gloss is so buttery and not sticky at all. I have been carrying it with me in my handbag and grabbing it over all these lipsticks that are at the bottom of my handbag. I am posting a NYX Haul in the next few days where this lip gloss is featured.

Esssie Nail Polish in Status Symbol: I love Essie polishes and I remember wanting Cute as a Button but that one was out of stock so I grabbed the closest shade and that was Status Symbol. It is a creamy hot pink and I love it for summer time.

KIKO Roller Scents Eau De Toilette in Vanilla and Orchid: This has been such an easy item to carry around. It is a roller ball perfume and came out like a month ago with the new KIKO summer collection. I think it was around 10 pounds. I love anything Vanilla so I knew I was going to love this scent.

Topshop Sunglasses: I got these last month and since then I have been wearing them daily. I love the shape to them, they are clear on the side and I just love them.

Drinking:

Tea: I have been having some type of Green Tea in the morning and then the Dr. Stuart teas in the afternoon after my lunch. I have been drinking the Slim Plus or the Detox and I really like them both. The Slim Plus is supposed to be appetite suppressant and the Detox is detoxing but it has Milk Thistle in it which helps detox the liver. I am not a tea drinker but I have found a way that works for me. I have a travel mug from Starbucks that I brew my tea in and it keeps the tea warm for over 2 hours. That gives me the time to sip on it and make sure I finish my cup!

Eating:

Well with me trying to be healthy I have been going to Wholefoods once a week. There are so many things that I am obsessed with in Wholefoods but I always get few of these Pulsin Raw Almond and Raisin Choc Brownie: They are so nice, the Brownie is a perfect Snack with some smoothie or tea in the afternoon. I love it!

Reading:

The Girl on the Train: I bought this book last week and I read it in few days. It is so difficult for me to describe books. I always have been a big reader but I never know exactly how to describe the book because the book might be well written with a good story line or a plot but for me it is always about how I felt while reading, like excited or curious. This book kept me very curious, I just wanted to know what happened to the missing girl. I bought it because it was said to be similar to Gone Girl which I liked and it has a good plot so if you like these type of books then this one is good.

Watching:

I am a TV addict so I will try to keep this short because I watch too many series. This week I have been catching up on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Atlanta and New York... Yes I love them all!! I am most excited at the moment about the New York with Bethenny being back, I just wish that Jill would come back as well haha. I loved the last Beverly Hills season and the reunion was soo good. I just can't belive Yolanda is so ill. I think that there is 1-2 more reunion episodes of the Atlanta one but to be honest they are getting a bit boring now.
I am also watching season 1 of Revenge, I don't know exactly how I feel about them. I was told that if I love PLL then I would love Revenge but I think I need to get onto season 2 to see if I am obsessed or just like it. Definitely tell me your current TV addictions?

I really like a round up of my week like this, I will try to do these at least every other week (hopefully every Sunday) but I am currently blogging on a TV since my laptop screen is still broken.

Mani-Monday... Topshop - Profound

Hi Everyone

I found one of my favorite transitioning, summer to autumn, shade ever. It is a mix between a dusty purple, lavender, nude and beige. At least that is what I think. It is not too bright or too nude. I just loved how it looked with my skin tone

I am a big fan of the Topshop Nail polishes and I think for five pounds you can't go wrong. It is impossible for me to pick up one when I go into Topshop Oxford Street, there are just way too many shades available so the other day I picked up three new one. The one I am wearing today is called Profound.

Topshop - Profound
You can find it here :)

I think the formula of the Topshop nail polishes is opaque, fast drying and long lasting. I normally use top coat and I will probably do a post soon on my two favorite top coats :)

The brush is wide so it is easy to apply, I always paint my nails in two coats, even if the polish is very opaque, it is just a habit. Honestly I think nail polishes last longer if you do the first coat really sheer and then the second a little thicker. Anyway back to this nail polish, it was very easy to apply.

I just can't get enough of this shade, I haven't seen a shade quite like this, it doesn't look much but in person the shade is gorgeous.

If you have any great summer to autumn shades to recommend to me, please let me know :)

Easter inspired nails :)

Happy Easter Everyone!

I have had a little weird Easter this year, I have just spent it studying but one of my best friend came around last night and we went for dinner and now on Easter day I am at my dad's house for dinner. I am just a bit ill so I couldn't even enjoy dinner and plus I haven't eaten my easteregg yet! In Iceland we have a proper chocolate easteregg and it is filled with candy/sweets, it also has a traditionally Icelandic saying and mine were quite good this year.
Here is a picture of my easteregg before I opened it, this is number 4, I just wanted a 'small' one haha and when I got here to my dads, my stepmum gave me another one number 5. So I have too much chocolate to eat in the next few days!

Image from Instagram @margretscorner

I wanted to do a little nail-art inspired by Easter, not that this is a proper nail 'art'
I used a dotting tool and I think I should make a little post about them because they were super cheap and I love them. Let me know if you are interested in the dotting tools :)

I wanted to use alll pastel colors and I think it looks very cute :)

From left to right:
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Rose Hip (This is the base)
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Huckleberry
Essie in Go Ginze
Topshop in Bees Knees

I have already planned my next few posts and the next one is a FOTD where I done a little purple on my eyes, but kept it very natural :)

Thanks for reading and if you have a blog, please leave your link in the comments because I love finding new blogs to read.

Mani-Monday - China Glaze & Topshop dots!

Hi Everyone,

In exactly two weeks I will take my first final exam at Uni! So over the next few weeks there will be a bit quiet here... well I should be studying now but I rather blog.. anyone with the same problem?

But I had to post my Mani-Monday since there has been few weeks since my nails showed up on my blog :)

Today I am wearing China Glaze in Merry Berry from last years Christmas Collection and Topshop in Heart of Gold.

I just thought they were a bit festive and I love the China Glaze Merry Berry, it is so shiny and last for ages on my nails.

I used some new dotting tools I got off ebay, I posted a picture of them the other day on my instagram.
@margretscorner

I am wearing the Topshop Heart of Gold for my dots there as well!

Thanks for reading this tiny little post :)

Favorites: August 2013 :)

Hii Everyone!

I am not sure if I have ever done monthly favorites this year but it is time I start posting my favorites regularly.
Now I am sitting waiting for class to start and trying to multi-task. It is all about time planning, so if anyone has any great ideas about time organizing or any apps to use please let me know because I am trying to be on top of things. (btw, I am finishing this post 4 days later now haha)

But let's jump right into it, since I have loads of things to share with you...

First off is one of my favorite Soap and Glory Product, When I moved to Iceland I forgot this body butter, I was so mad at myself and I really wanted it with me here. So when Ethan went back to London just to come all the way back to Iceland (long story) he brought my beloved Body Butter. It is the Soap and Glory, Butter Yourself. If you apply it once in the evening, your skin feels so much better in the morning when you wake up. It is not super greasy so you don't feel all sweaty and gross haha. I have had some dry skin issue on my feet (gross I know) and it is the only moisturizer that works.
Next is the fragrance I have been loving, it is the Christina Aguilera perfume. This is the original one and I am really loving it for fall. it is a bit heavy but still feminine. I used to have it years ago and I got a new bottle a while back when it was on an offer and I really like it.
For my hair the Dove heat Protection has been great, I love the smell of this, All Dove Hair care products that I have tried smell amazing and are overall really great. This one has been a stable this month as my heat protection and it does not weigh my hair down or anything like that.

As for my face I have been really loving my Nivea Lip butter in Vanilla and Macadamia. It goes on so smoothly and I love using it every night before I go to sleep and it is really helping my lips these days with the weather changes.
When I moved back to Iceland I forgot to bring a night cream with me! so I went to The Body Shop and picked up the Body Shop Aloe Soothing night cream in a small jar, I was not sure about this cream because it was very thick and I didn't want to buy the normal size in case I did not enjoy it... Well this month I have been using it and I really like it. The cream is very thick and it is for Sensitive skin and I feel like it calms my skin and moisturizes it well. I am thinking about buying the full size.

I have loads of make up in my favorites since I have been wearing full face of makup almost every day this month.

My go to powder has seriously been the Maybelline Fit Me powder, I used it in most of my FOTD in the last few weeks. I am thinking about doing a post about the whole Fit Me collection since the concealer will also be in this months favorites. But anyway the powder is really good and I have been really enjoying it.
As for blush I grabbed my MAC My Paradise blush, from a MAC summer collection about 2 years ago I think, but as you can see I have been really careful not to use all the gold as it had a beautiful gold sparkle on top, so I have just been dipping my brush to the matte coral/orange side and I really really love this shade. Sometimes I forget that I have it since it is such a big compact and it tends to get stored away but the color is amazing. (I did do a FOTD with it here, the Fit Me powder is used in this FOTD as well)

So like I said earlier I have been using the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer loads and it is long wearing and creamy. I can use it under my eyes or on any redness/imperfection that I want to hide.
As for a great blending color NYX single eyeshadow in Taupe has been a stable, It is a pearl finished but I really like it in my crease. It is a cool brown taupe color and the quality of this eyeshadow is amazing.
For my liner I have been using my MAC Fluidliner in Blacktrack and the easiest way I have found to apply it is with The Real Techniques, the Fine Liner Brush. This is a brush sold separately and it is so small and precise, anyone can make a straight line! I have had the MAC fluidline before, I needed a new gel liner this month since my maybelline one had nearly dried out so I asked Ethan to grab me one at the airport. I will be making a post comparing my MAC on to the Maybelline one. But since he got it for me and it did coast a bit of money, I have been using it and only with my Real Techinques fine liner brush.

There is one eyeshadow that I have been obsessed over, it is the Toasted eyeshadow from the Urban Decay Naked palette. The thing is that I have it in another Urban Decay Palette that I own and I used to use it loads. In the Naked palette I always thought it looked a bit too pinky for me but when you use it all over the lid and blend it into the crease it looks amazing. Toasted is one of these eyeshadows that do perfectly well on their own.
I think it is a hidden gem in the Naked palette!

For a mascara it is no surprise that I have been using my Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara, I have been using this since the moment I got it, beginning of July. It is amazing, I have to do a full review! I love this Mascara!
My favorite lip combo this month has been my MAC Speak Louder and Topshop lipliner in Fearless. I did do a Lipstick of the Day with this combo, You can see it here and like all these things in this post... I love these haha!

So.. September has started already and I am very excited for these next few months and also a bit stressed for school :)

Thanks for reading as always..

Lipstick of the Day #4 MAC Speak Louder and Topshop Fearless lipliner

Hi Everyone

Todays lipstick of the day is a combo, these two have been my favorite for the last few days, this lip combo is so long lasting. I literally applied it when I was getting ready before I went to work at 11 am and when I finished work at 6 pm, I still had lipstick on, I even ate and drank from a can but still, it stayed put.

Lipstick: MAC Speak Louder
Lipliner: Topshop Fearless

MAC Speak Louder is amazing, it is such a beautiful color, so opaque and so creamy. It is a cremesheen formula and that is one of my favorite formula of all time.
The day I bought the MAC Speak Louder I bought this lip liner from Topshop it is called Fearless, this is a great lip liner and when I got home I realised that the color is very similar and when I pair them together, it is a long wearing, creamy lip combo :)

Top: Topshop lipliner in Fearless
Bottom: MAC Speak Louder

The Topshop lip liner is a matte formula, not drying and the lipstick gives a semi-glossy finish.
This lip combo has quickly become my go to lips this week :)

I feel like the color of the lipstick does not show up properly on camera, I feel like it is deeper and has more dimension in person, if you have a chance, I recommend swatching it next time while you are at your MAC counter.

NOTD... cold January night

NOTD - Nails of the day

It is a cold January night and I just did my nails,

Moonshine by Topshop make up.
I got it at while ago, It was limited edition.

It is a metallic color so I was worried about the streaking. It isn't too bad, but because my nails are not the best, you can actually see all the flaws underneath the nail polish.

It has a bit of light purple undertone, I think but it is very hard to describe this color.
I have only worn it once before and I have had it for 5 months.
I am not in love with this color and I think most of the Topshop colors are amazing but this one just is a bit to much on its own.

But then I think, it is a unique color and I do kinda like it..

What do you think?

My top 11 of 2011

Here are things that i have discovered this year and or repurchased.

These are things that will always be part of my make up collection and
I will buy again when I run out.

Number 11 –

There is no way i can pick my favourite nail polish, and extremely hard to pick a nail polish brand. However Topshop nail polishes have been a big favourite this year. They are £6 and they keep on coming out with new colours every month and each time I go to Topshop I grab a new bottle!

Number:  10, 9 and 8.

My eyeliners... This has been my year of eyeliners.
Rimmel, Glam eyes, professional liquid liner
Topshop Kohl, in black (and every other colour)
Maybelline, Eye studio Gel Liner in black

I am going to do a blog post on my eyeliners soon and a review on my favourites, (so keep tuned)

Number 7

As my favourite hair product this year and I am on my way to boots now to buy a new bottle is

John Frieda, Sheer Blonde, lightening spray.

This has saved me alot of money in going to the hairdressers to get highlights. I have not coloured my hair all year and it looks more natural and healthy than it has done in years.
I spray it around 2 times a week on a damp hair, mostly the top of my head, comb it, blow dry it and straighten it.
I have recommended it to a friend and she thinks it is the most brilliant product, like I do

Number 6 and 5

As for face product, all I picked was a blush and a concealer.

Maybelline Dream touch blush, in Peach. This gives me the healthiest glow and i always look very natural with that blush on.

Garnier roll on tinted anti-dark circles (concealer) – This product is very important to me. I have horrible dark circles and this works for me. I have used mine all year and I do see a difference. It has caffeine in it and the best thing is, that it is tinted. It works as a concealer and it is a very light formula so the under eye area does not get cakey at all.

Number 4

Urban Decay, Naked. Eye shadow pallet.

I cannot image my life without this pallet. It is my ultimate favourite eyeshadows of all time. And this February Naked 2 is coming out here in the Uk, and I am already on a waiting list for it!

Number 3

Rimmel Kate Collection Red lipstick, number 01.

A lot of lipsticks wear purchased this year and this one just stands out for me. Love it

Number 2

Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I have had this in my collection for over 2 years now, and everytime I run out, I need a new one.

Number 1

My fluffy eyeshadow blending brush. I have few of them but my MAC 224, is my ultimate favourite! I would not be able to put on eyeshadows without this brush and this is a basic blending brush for every one

So that is my list...

I need to squeeze in two other products here and that is my MAC lipstick in Hue and my MAC paint pot in Trophy. Both amazing products that I use too much!

Hope you guys enjoyed this and what are your favourite products this year?
